1.DISCUSSION (2 min). A city has funds for ONE cultural project: a concert hall, a network of small venues, a free festival, or artist studios. Discuss how far each would benefit the wider public.

Do not list. Build on your partner: 'That's true up to a point, though…'

2.DECISION (1 min). Now decide which single project to fund and justify the trade-off you accept.

A C2 decision names what is being sacrificed.

3.DISCUSSION (2 min). Which does most to change behaviour: legislation, taxation, education or social pressure?

Use hedged evaluation: 'arguably', 'on balance', 'if anything'.

4.Record yourself disagreeing three different ways without saying 'I disagree'.

Try: 'I'd put it slightly differently…', 'I'm not sure that follows…', 'That holds for X, less so for Y.'
